These are some photographs taken by Tisha Lynne Galvan a few Saturday mornings ago. Featured in these photographs are some of our beloved "extended family members" in the Forrest Park in Old Town Victorville.
Hey! these are some photo's that we took after we served coffee down at the park one saturday morning. The bittersweet thing about Old Town Victorville is that there is a beautiful set of train tracks that disects the neighborhood, the downside is that it disects the neighborhood... and because it is one of the busiest lines in Southern California, there is constant train traffic, with loud horns that blow throughout the night! but we decided to take some photos of us messin around on the ol tracks! Some of the community is not pictured here regretfully...
Parea Community is just a bunch of friends who find our place among the poor, the needy and the broken... We exist in the abandoned places of our society to offer love, our hands and the scandalous grace of Jesus Christ to the poor. Currently we are involved in the Old Town neighborhood of Victorville, Ca and Portland, OR. We feel moved by the example of Jesus and countless numbers of disciples, apostles, monks, brothers, sisters, saints and sinners to sacrifice the passions and seductions of the world, to build the Kingdom of God. We have seen the oppression and disdain for the poor in our city. We have witnessed the power of hopelessness and abandonment among our homeless friends. Yet, we have also heard of the power of grace... and though the still small voice of our King, which proclaims grace and peace to all the world is hidden behind the screams of chaos, violence and confusion, this small, simple community is seeking that voice with reckless abandon! Come, dream with us for awhile! Maybe you too will be able to hear that voice calling...
